Interview with Marta Belén González Rodríguez - Founder and CEO of MBestCare
Discover the vision behind MBestCare Tenerife
We sat down with our Founder & CEO, Marta Belén González Rodríguez, to talk about the story behind MBescare, how health care and Canarian soul come together to redefine wellness tourism in the Canary Islands.
With more than 15 years of experience in the public health sector, Marta Belén González Rodríguez set out to bring a new vision to tourism in the Canary Islands: to connect scientific evidence on health and wellbeing with holistic practices and the warmth of Canarian hospitality.
Specialized in health economics and integrated healthcare services, Marta — a native of the Canary Islands and an economist by training — founded MBestCare seven years ago. Before that, she worked as a hospital director, where she applied her knowledge of leadership and health management and gained valuable hands-on experience in patient care.
Together with her team, she promotes a personalized approach for every guest, with visible results after just a few days of attending MBestCare’s programs. In addition to leading the company, Marta Belén shares her expertise as a university lecturer, teaching business management.
Her vision is clear: to create meaningful and enriching experiences for people from all around the world.
I wanted to combine my years of experience in the healthcare and hospital management sectors with the unique opportunities offered by tourism in the Canary Islands. I saw the potential to transform the tourism model — shifting towards a focus on wellbeing, health, and sustainability.
The name carries both a personal and professional meaning. “MB” corresponds to my initials, Marta Belén, and “BestCare” reflects our commitment to providing the best possible care for every guest. At MBestCare, we don’t focus only on relaxation but on holistic regeneration — restoring body, mind, and spirit. Each program is designed to help people recharge, find balance, and return home renewed. Our philosophy combines scientific knowledge, personalized care, and attentive service, always delivered with authentic Canarian warmth.
Our mission at MBestCare is to offer the highest-quality wellbeing experiences to those seeking a more harmonious life or simply wishing to feel better. We work with an exceptional team of local and international trainers, therapists, and wellness guides. Each brings both expertise and heart to our programs. Through personalized programs, yoga, Pilates, massages, and wellness activities, we design transformative journeys that improve health, reduce stress, and restore inner balance. But beyond wellness practices, we want our guests to feel the spirit of the Canary Islands — its culture, hospitality, nature, and warmth. Everyone who stays with us becomes part of our extended family.
At MBestCare, we believe that wellness is a holistic path — body, mind, and spirit must all be nurtured together. Our philosophy is built on three fundamental pillars:
- Education – empowering guests to understand their health and learn how to care for their wellbeing.
- Motivation – inspiring a mindset shift that leads to healthy and lasting habits.
- Care – providing a safe, supportive environment where everyone feels valued and cared for. We tailor each experience to individual needs, whether guests are looking for deep relaxation, a fresh start, or an active wellness adventure.
We believe that wellness tourism represents the future of the Canary Islands. It fosters a deeper connection between visitors, the local environment, and the community. For us, it’s more than just a business — it’s a responsibility to take care of our island and share it with the world in the most respectful way. As proof of our commitment to sustainability, we proudly received the Biosphere Certificate in 2024. We encourage our guests to participate in activities in nature and with local people. This helps them reconnect with themselves and gain a new understanding of the world around them. By promoting authentic and sustainable experiences, wellness tourism helps strengthen communities, boost the local economy, and preserve the islands’ natural and cultural heritage.
“Your wellness escapes in the heart of Tenerife — where science, care, and Canarian soul come together.” — Marta Belén González Rodríguez
